About the Maskwachees Literacy Program

"The Literacy Program to my understanding is a program created by Moreau Training Group and funded by Trans Canada. It was created for the purpose to educate people from anywhere in the world through the internet. Anybody can gain skills and employment from this literacy program, because you are on a computer everyday learning how to operate it, and that is an asset. It is good to experience something different and learn at the same time while in a classroom environment. The Literacy Program opens a lot of doors for so many different people and gives them a chance to grow and learn new skills they did not know they had. Moreau Training Group and Trans Canada are giving anybody who wants to learn the opportunity through this program."

Ramona Buffalo

"I learned to write cover letters, job search letters, and some writing skills I never knew I possessed. I have made new friends and made old ties stronger. In the short time I have been here I have really grown in the Literacy part of the program, which is awesome and I am very proud of myself."

Edwin Deschamps, Louis Bull

“I think anybody who takes this program will benefit greatly from it. We became an online community, a family I like to think . . .”

Bill Green, Montana Band

"I take pride in being part of the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Pilot Program and hope the students who follow in my footsteps take full advantage as I have done."

Myron Svandrlik, Louis Bull

"Your concept of “No Pass, No Fail” was exactly what these clients needed to restart themselves on their road to employment or to further studies. They needed a program that did not evaluate them on what they were lacking to achieve their goals, but one that allowed them to try and test their abilities themselves. Your program gave back to them the ability to dream again and the confidence to get back on track with a plan.

Finally but not least, your abilities as teachers and counselors allowed these clients to explore new options and to attempt these endeavors with a new sense of anticipation.

The confidence that you showed in them will stay there within them for the rest of their journeys."

Wayne Reindeer, Teacher Aide, Montana First Nation
